The application laboratories, where the development of solutions for our customers takes place, stand out both in the area of food and microbiology. On the other hand, the facility’s pilot plant allows us to optimize our manufacturing processes and develop new products.
The Cantabrian Sea offers ideal conditions for the development of high-quality algae of the Gelidium genus. Roko collects them in a sustainable way, through manual removal from the seabed by divers, and by local collectors in the case of those that arrive naturally on the beaches, driven by the sea tides.
When we receive the seaweeds at our factory, we analyze them, classify them according to their properties and we proceed to store them. Our proximity to the harvesting areas, together with our wide network of buyers for international Imports, allows us to select the best seaweed to obtain the highest quality agar.
We have a large storage area and stock of seaweeds, which is permanently available. This allows us to manufacture a wide range of types of Agar-Agar and to guarantee a constant supply to our customers, even in years when algae are scarce.
Our hydrocolloid applications are produced in a sustainable way, implementing energy efficiency policies and with a clear commitment to minimizing the environmental impact at all stages of the process.
Roko has a highly qualified human team, oriented to pursue continuous improvement.
It also has technical means with advanced production technology, and a complete and modern laboratory, to guarantee maximum precision and permanent control in all phases of our operations.
In addition, we have a pilot plant, where new types of agar-agar are developed. Also, our microbiology section analyzes bacterial growth and the behavior of our hydrocolloids.
The quality and harmlessness of our products, together with respect for the environment, and the safety and health of our employees, are essential factors for the success of the company. You can consult our Company Policy at the following link.
Roko is committed to a business model that defends and supports the local economy, prioritizing the acquisition of seaweed from collectors on the Cantabrian coast, and generating more than 400 jobs.
Our seaweed is extracted in a manual and sustainable way, guaranteeing the regeneration of this prized raw material, and without causing a negative impact on the marine ecosystem.
The by-products resulting from our production process are 100% biodegradable and are used in the manufacture of food for herbivores or as fertilizer for agriculture.
Through a cogeneration system, we improve our energy efficiency, reduce our emissions and thus contribute to the fight against climate change.
